Any experience with Carmax?
Edited on Wed Sep-17-03 11:35 AM by Boudicea
I don't really care that much what kind of car I get. Dependable and cheap with low mileage. I am terrible with haggling/car shopping. If you've had any experience buying from Carmax would you share it with me? Thanks alot, B

3. I didn't buy one from them
but I sold them a car that I wasn't able to sell on my own. It was cool to have that option available, and they gave me a totally fair price for it (according to the KBB), and were very professional. I'd definitely deal with them again.

4. I bought my Van from CarMax last year
The price you see if the price you pay... The Sales folks are low key and don't give you a hassle... Just watch out of the up-sells... For instance they tried to sell me a VCR TV player for around 1500 bucks when you can buy it at Best Buy for a thousand...

Otherwise I had a great experience with them...

5. Yes... I Thought They Were Great
We bought a small truck that turned out to have MANY more problems than they had believed.

The first time it refused to start, I was about 100 miles away from Laurel, MD... but they sent a tow-truck anyway. They "repaired" what they thought was wrong... but it turns out that they misdiagnosed the problem.

When it failed to start again, they sent a tow truck again and we were able to trade it in for the full value and pick out another truck that's running fine now.

Only... the windshield wiper switch was either on or off... the intermittant wasn't working. So I took it to a local Chevy dealership and Carmax reimbursed me the FULL price for parts and labor.

7. I had a good experience also
Being female, and being shafted before, I was leery and really prepared. They were patient, accomodating and very professional. I got a good deal and a good rate......and I love my car.

Good luck!

9. Make sure when you take the car on a test drive...
Take it by a brake shop and have them look at the brakes all the way around. My ex-boyfriend worked at a brake shop and they were always griping about all the vehicles that came from that place. Just be careful. Good-Luck!
