Crowe to Gibson: "I think he's got to get off the glue. ... "

Crowe Passionately Drubs Gibson's 'Passion'

Australian Russell Crowe has cast a few stones at The Passion, a movie about the last hours of Jesus Christ, produced and directed by Mel Gibson who moved to Australia with his family at the age of 12, went to school there and made his first movies there. Using an Australian expression that is the equivalent of the American phrase "get real," Crowe said that if it is true that Gibson has shot the film in Aramaic and Latin and intends to release it without subtitles, then "I think he's got to get off the glue. ... What's the point of making a movie where people can't understand what's going on?" Advised that Gibson believes that most people already know what's going on, Crowe remarked, "Well, if we know the story, if we know it that well, why did bother making it again?" Gibson made the comments on Mancow Muller's radio show in Chicago, and they were picked up Tuesday by MSNBC online columnist Jeannette Walls.

6. There is on way Gibsons movie will "flop" like waterworld
Ok first off waterworld was MADE for money. It was made for the public, and to earn money.

The passion isnt produced for the public, its not expected at all to earn what it cost. So there is absolutely no way it can "flop" It doesnt have any kind of expectation whatsoever to make money.

Altough im pretty sure it will get all of its production money back and then some

11. "Foightin' 'round the World"
was his tagline, and Tugger, his boat, carried him around the world looking for fights. Seems he's got more fighting than acting ability.

When he started singing, even Tugger, his loyal little tugboat that could, committed suicide. Imagine a tugboat trying to cover its ears and then pulling out a gun and shooting itself in the head.

It's been a while since I've seen it, but they ripped him a new one, and I still can't hear his name without thinking about that episode.

Did a job on me, it did. That's propaganda.

15. Yeah...F*ck Russell Crowe.
Mel can make whatever kind of movie he wants....and it's just a movie. People are going to believe whatever they want when it comes to religion, and I'm very tired of hearing about the passion. Leave him alone, already.

17. after seeing what Crowe did..
to music I can't take him seriously - has anyone ever paid for a 30 odd foot of grunts CD??.

Then again after what Gibson did to Braveheart (20 years older than he should have been, the blue face "woad" was actually used during Pictish times - a few hundred years before William Wallace, the affair with the princess and his WOEFUL scottish accent) can we expect Gibson's Jesus to be a jamaican woman maybe?

4. What an excellent phrase "..get off the glue"..
I picture a T-shirt with Whistle-ass making one of his typical stupid faces, with the words "..Get off the glue" below it.

13. great idea, kind of like 'Freddie vs. Jason'
only with Gibson in his 'Braveheart' getup and Crowe in his 'Gladiator' outfit.
.....contest to see who can give the most pretentious and cliched speech before the finale...

18. I had forgotten the connection...
...but my first, one-sentence review of Gladiator was "How do you say 'They can't take away our...FREEDOM!!!' in Latin?"

12. How stupid is Crowe?
Advised that Gibson believes that most people already know what's going on, Crowe remarked, "Well, if we know the story, if we know it that well, why did bother making it again?"

Well, dumbshit, why turn any original work in literature or text into a movie?

Why did you work in 'LA Confidential'? I mean, after all, it was a very successful James Ellroy novel, so why even bother since everyone knew it?

What a maroon.
