What did Giuliani do to earn sainthood?

Can someone tell me what Giuliani did, beyond what any mayor of any city would have done, to help NYC get through the attacks of 9-11-2001?

Personally, I have no clue if RG did ANYTHING better than anyone else could have. Did the cleanup start sooner because of him or did just take the credit?

and it lasted all of two weeks. Compare his sterling performance to Bush's. Compare it to anybody's. He was tireless, his tone was reassuring, he said exactly the right things. But I knew it wasn't going to last, and sure enough, as soon as the smoke cleared, Rudi shattered this peace and calm after the storm by announcing that he wanted three more months to "finish the job." As if he was indispensable! What a load of crap! So you're right: he's not a saint. But for a brief moment, he came close enough for the city's purposes.

He tried to keep some order in the chaos of the day and provided some leadership during a crisis. Not really a big deal as thats what leaders are supposed to do. I can't stand the man or his politics but I did gain some measure of respect for him on that day just for doing his job under terrible circumstances. Bush* on the other hand...
