1. Been there, done that...
We ran from fran a few years ago. BTW, from the safety of our home two days later, we saw the bridge from the mainland to the barrier islands disintegrate on TV. Looks like the e-vac folks may have known what they were talkin' about!

2. I Loved The Outer Banks!!!
I was there in the Summer of 1967. We were camping at the National Seashore, near Buxton.

The only problem was the one night when the wind kept getting stronger and stronger. Good thing my father had brought along some 3-foot tent stakes he made from angle iron - a co-worker had suggested he do that just in case. He and I tied the trailer down as best we could, and the whole family didn't get much sleep that night.

The next morning, Dad and I walked down to the communal mens room. Dad struck up a conversation with a guy down there:

Dad: "Some wind lst night, huh?"

Guy: "I guess. I've been coming down here for ten years now, and this is the calmest I've seen it."

We were packed up within the hour and spent the rest of our vacation at Lake Fairfax outside Washington DC........

3. How about drinks next weekend with Ramsey and I
We're going to hang out at Doobies next weekend and kick back a few.

BTW - thank goodness someone kicked you out of there. I watched the news on Monday with how they had to drag people out of the floodwaters from this last storm. We need every last damn liberal we can get - so hurray for those who made you leave!!!

4. let me guess ... the sheriff's name is "Midgett"
seemed like the Midgett name was everywhere ... or maybe Meekins ...

(grew up in Hampton Roads - Nags Head and the old Casino were just a short drive away)
