Is it just me, or does Univision have more hot women than other networks?

Univision has a wide talent pool to draw from.

Tangentially, I saw that one of the Weather Channel's anchors is named Jennifer Lopez. The poor thing.

2. well, except for one woman...

They had this talk show, "El Gordo y La Flaca" (Fat guy and skinny woman,) which had a cohost who was a dead ringer for Anne Coulter... the show's gimmick was the hosts & guests (invariably curvy telenovela starlets) got into a hot tub for the last five minutes of the show.

Anyway, I suppose the answer to your question is that their shows come from the entire Western Hemisphere, from the Mexican Border on down. There's a lot of shows to choose from. Also consider a general cultural preference for non-anorexic woman who actually have lots of curves... I think that helps, too.

On the other hand there's sometimes a disturbing tendency to sexualize teen girls as young as 13, and not deny it or keep it hidden. There's a (Venezuelan? Argentinian?) telenovela ("Rebelde Way") that sometimes featured 15-18 year olds doing strip tease exotic dances down to their underwear, or wearing nothing but paint above the waist. To my knowledge I don't think Univision picked that one up...

3. I love Univision, and I don't even speak Spanish

I particularly love those dance shows out of what looks to be Miami. Oh, my God.

Like another poster indicated, I think it's because they don't have as many anorexic waifs as Nordeamericano TV, and the women actually look like women.

I can't think of a better way to learn a foreign language. If I'd had Univision in my high school and college language classes I'd be freaking fluent. Nothing facilitates learning like a Univision woman.
