I'm not sure how many of you know that David paid for Will's plane ticket out of his own pocket. I plan on kicking in a little cash to help offset the costs to him, and encourage others to do the same. Meeting Will and listening to him speak (and seeing his tattoos!) was a highlight for all of us, and David was the instrument which made it all possible.

So, I'm passing the proverbial hat. Please keep this kicked for a few days.

a wonderful idea hon. That David is a hell of a guy. Didn't know he put up the cash out of his own pocket. Awfully glad he put this thing together for all of us...and he's so modest about it and wouldn't take any credit whenever we tried to say thanks. What a cutie.

Where do we send out tax-deductible contributions? ;-) (Seriously, if you need any help getting the cash to him here in Austin just let me know.)

Seriously though, I do have a (somewhat tenuous) line on contributions from Will's publisher and the local Veterans for Peace. I'm not holding my breath on either of those coming through. However, any contributions I receive from any source over and above the price of the airline ticket will be donated to DU.

The financial commitment was not overly burdensome for me, although any contribution is very appreciated. Thanks to Rebecca for thinking of me, as I'd have never asked y'all in a million years.
