in one episode as Northern Kentucky, although that episode was CHANGED and she then says Missouri! Check a map and find Springfield KY though... guess what town is to its north?

3. Some clues:

It's not a formerly Confederate State.

It borders on a salt-water source.

It has mountains, rivers, a desert, a coniferous forest, an alkalai flatland, and legalized gambling.

4. I voted Oregon.

There's probably an alkalai flat and desert somewhere too far east of the town if it is in Oregon, but there's an ocean 20 miles away, and I think Springfield, OR has an inlet running into it. Mountains (or at least hills) and forests all around. I don't know if Oregon has organized gambling. Oregon was not confederate, that's for sure. But the state flag they showed on that episode doesn't belong to any state. It looked like the confederate flag was plopped on the middle of the Arizona flag.

Now there's probably some Simpsons junkie who will say that in the episode when Homer and Bart were travelling to the Thomas Edison museum, they passed a sign that said "To New Jersey, Michigan, Oregon and Texas", and would ask why they would be passing the exit to it. I would say that you couldn't tell which road they were on, and the road could've been veering off course just a bit, like a lot of interstates.

In any case, even tho there's evidence against ALL states that might be the Simpson's home, ANY evidence that says Springfield is in Oregon FAR outweighs the evidence for any other state.

Homer gets pissed at Marge, and drives away. He gets enticed by a sign for a barbecue joint called Flaming Pete's which from the initial sign is 70 miles away. When he finally gets there, Flaming Pete's has burnt down, so Homer goes to another bar in the area.

Later in a conversation with Moe, he tells Moe that he went to another bar the night before (with Fudd), and Moe isn't happy. Homer tries to explain he was over 100 miles away, so couldn't have gone to Moe's.

I actually think that they've gone to great pains to conceal any state where the Simpsons might live. If you remember when Mr. Burns ran for governor, the state in the ads was NT...er, huh?

Springfield is Illinois' capital city. There is a Simpsonsverse city called Capital (maybe Capitol) City and it is clearly not Springfield.

8. I voted for Springfield Kentucky

There is a town called Shelbyville in quite close proximity (not adjacent unfortunately) to Springfield Kentucky. There are also, IIRC, numerous names of towns nearby with very Simpsony names like Maudeville and Simpsonville, but you need a pretty good road atlas (which I don't have at the moment) to find them.

Unfortunately..... no Route 401.

Remember the episode where Homer drives to Vegas with Flanders. The sign says well over a thousand miles to Vegas.

We know it's actually not a real state, as they've said in an episode that they've been kicked out of every state except North Dakota, and Bart says "Badlands, here we come!". Lisa tells him the Badlands are in South Dakota, and they can't go back there.

So, they've been kicked out of every state except North Dakota, and the one they live in. That kind of makes it obvious the state doesn't exist. Unless of course there's a 51st state i'm not aware of.

Where Homer was all lonely (forgot what reason).. and he ended up at the lighthouse by the seashore, where he found EARL. (electronic autmated robotic lighthouse)..

When Marge found him and was saying how she found him she said "I knew you'd head west because Springfield slopes down that way"

It's fun to think about, but I really think there is no state that Springfield is in, and they just keep playing on that fact. Purly fictitious

It is fun to speculate on where it might be, but i think we've both found evidence that it really doesn't exist. Just in different ways.

Yours indicates West Coast, but mine indicates it's not. So, i think it sort of proves that the Simpsons' state doesn't exist.

This is a funny and consistent bit by the writers.
