I just got my new 5.0 Mp digital camera, tell me everthang!

2. What Kind Do You Have?

I have a Canon. To turn on, slide open the lens cover. To select picture taking mode, there should be a wheel or an on-screen menu. "Auto" is a good choice.

4. It's a Gateway!

It's so new I couldn't find many reviews on it, (came on the market last month) but for the bells and whistles it's got, I couldn't beat the price! It lists for $300, but you can buy it on their website for $250! I'd been looking at digital cameras for a year and finally made the plunge! I have had 35mm gear for 30 years! I have OM1n and OM2n camera bodies and a bunch of Olympus lenses, so I'll see how this thing stacks up! I have a color darkroom and have been developing my own stuff for 30 years!

The darkroom chemicals are BAD, but the color blowups are great to be able to do! I use 8x10 and 11x14 drums and have an old Omega enlarger! The instant photo thing is what sold me on digital, also the fact that you can see what you got on the spot in case you don't get the shot you want! The blowups on the laser printers I've been seeing around are as good as anything I've ever seen out of any darkroom!

7. RTM, as the cliche goes.

Read the manual. I got a digital camera a few months ago after using a Nikon SLR for many many years. I must say, there's a huge learning curve if you want to have complete control of the camera. The "Auto" mode will handle about 90% of your picture situations just fine, however. Good luck!

A lot of the puter geek end of it's Greek to me! Composition is about the only carryover I can see so far! My wife is a spock on the puter though, so I hope we can get some good use outta' this camera! I've been looking at the book and it's really different!
