My (freepish) daughter helped hang a jury that was otherwise pretty much ready to acquit.

What is the chance a prosecuter will try again on a case with a 10-2 jury?

Sometimes hanging a jury is agood thing. I'd hang a jury if it was a marijuana possession case or a trial of the RIAA vs. a 12 year old girl who downloaded music.

There were lots of plea bargains, the defendent didn't bargain.

8. Your daughter is an adult, making adult decisions

This does not bear on you. If we are lucky, we have about 10 years to influence our children and after that who they are is up to them. You may not be proud of her but she is still your daughter. Let her know you are disappointed by her attitude and then move on. Be honest but not overbearing and perhaps in time she will begin to question her own beliefs, motivations and thoughts.

A freeperish child must be pretty difficult to deal with and I sympathize with your position. The way I see it, the only influence we can have over our adult children is to lead by example and hope they get the picture. Anything more intrusive will only destroy whatever relationship you currently have.

...seems to have been discussing the case with you, which IIRC jurors are not supposed to do while a case is ongoing. Other that that, she's the juror, not you, and you should not attempt to influence her decision either way. -ll

and was in trouble all summer until I made him go live on his own, I can assure you, you did not fail as a parent..when we are young, we always change..someday your daughter may be more like you, and this is her way of rebelling by being different..
My son is 20 and thinks he knows everything and I know very little...I used to be the same way at 20..
someday they will have kids and I intend to sit and cackle as I watch my own children go thru hell with their kids...

19. Hung jury ain't the worst thing

One of my friends was stabbed to death by her husband a few years back. The entire jury was ready to acquit out of sympathy for the kids but for 2 people. They HUNG it..he was retried and convicted.
