Bradshaw didn't have the luxury of having plays radioed in. If he did he might had been an even better qb.

Montana didn't have to make his own calls. And I wouldn't want the qb to make their own calls considering all of the other teams don't except when they deem necessary.

Unless they both played under the same conditions we couldn't know who would be better. Probably other factors would be important besides the qb.

How would today's receivers do if they didn't wear gloves? Runners with lighter and more protective pads?

How would teams do if all games were played outdoors? If Super Bowl games were played in the cold/snow?

Is Dilfer a better QB then Marino? I'm sure Marino would trade stats with Dilfer for a Super Bowl ring but does it mean Dilfer is better? He won behind a great defense, ironically so did Bradshaw. A number of today's QB could've won 4 rings with a great defense and have better stats then Bradshaw as well. Elway was put in a position many times where he called his own plays, and Peyton Manning often audibles to a play that results in a quick 6 points after seeing something he doesn't like in the defense. Those 2 I feel are far better then Bradshaw and could do what they've done on many other teams. Could Bradshaw have the same success with the 1970's Cardinals?

Bradshaw rode the Steel Curtain's coat-tails. By your standards, Otto Graham, who won seven titles and played in ten title games in his ten seasons with the Cleveland Browns, was the greatest of all time.

Greatest QB is so subjective. Broncos fans will tell you that Elway was the greatest, but they're about the only ones.

I'm a Packers fan, but despite my inherent pro-Favre bias, I'll stick with Montana for the time being. :P

Walsh's system was simply pitch and catch and toss the ball over the line of scrimmage to get the ball carrier into the open field. As much I thought he was an arrogant a** it was a good simple system and it worked. Montana didn't bring anything special to the team and neither did Rice-they both benefitted from fantastic planning. Bradshaw didn't enjoy such and advantage but he did have a great team around him.

Basically Otto was the best ever.......with Kosar a close second (completely objective assessment there at the end).

Highly mediocre. Favre is 17 games away from passing Elway's career win total, the only meaningful statistic Elway has. Favre could potential eclipse that mark next season (difficult, but not impossible).

Bart Starr won five NFL championships in just the decade prior to Bradshaw's four, including the first two Super Bowls. But most people would argue that Lombardi deserved the credit for those. Same holds for Bradshaw; Chuck Noll deserved the credit for those Super Bowl wins.

And yeah, you can argue the same for Montana and Walsh. So you come back to statistics, in which case it's Dan Marino by any standard.
