Favorite TV sitcom...

I'd say Seinfeld, just because every episode is a classic, I don't think any other TV show has been able to achieve that. Plus, my favorite line from any TV is from seinfeld. To be precise, the episode where Elaine pisses off the doctor and wants Kramer to go in and get her charts. So he pretends to be a doctor and he gets glasses and a scarf and a pipe and goes in and says, "Yes, I need the charts for Elaine Benes please?" and the woman says, "Your name sir?" and Kramer says, "My name is Dr. Van Nostrum, from the clinic." and she says, "What clinic would that be?" and he just coughs and says, "Uhh, that's right" HAHAHA classic.

Seinfeld not only is the best sitcom ever, but it single-handedly killed the genre. There's no where else it can go.

laugh out loud funny but can be surprisingly heartfelt and sweet, too.

My favorite classic sitcom would be 'All in the Family'.

56. It's kind of strange - Martin Mull wasn't a "funny man" in high school.

He was an excellent painter - very serious. After graduating he studied art at the Rhode Island School of Design. Years later he was in California doing comic roles in movies, then that funny TV series. I've lost touch, but I imagine he settled down near Hollywood somewhere.

I don't know if this would be considered a "Sit Com" but Mystery Science Theater has always been one of my favorite shows. I liked the ones with Joel Hodges the best. Its no longer on the air, but You can now buy them on DVD and when I can I get myself a copy, they come in a boxed set of four episodes, and are put out by Rhino Home Video, and IMO it is worth the price when you can find them on sale. Some copies even contain some of the bloopers from their out takes.

One single that you should get is the best of the worst movies made called Eegah it even has its own web site www.eegah.com, the move has such memorable lines such as "I keep my tires filled with water", "Watch for snake", "Wowsy, wow, wow!" and others. And the Bots as always have their snappy comebacks.

I loved this show - especially with Joel.

I love the one where (in a particularly bad B/W movie) a teenager (teen movie)falls off a cliff...the next shot shows him on the rocks all twisted and stuff -

CROW: "So, how's the date going?"

I used to like it more when it was new, but it does nothing for me in reruns. And the laugh track is annoying as hell.

are annoying. And when people use them in conversation now I cringe.

What is a word episode? An episode of Seinfeld where they introduce a word or phrase and use it over and over pretending it is funny:

low-talker

You can always spot a word episode because when someone introduces the word, usually Jerry, someone else will immediately ask about it.

WKRP I loved the line Herb's wife said when they were on a TV interview about how they only allow their children to watch good wholesome shows like 'Little House on the Prairie' because it was on at the same time as WKRP
Just Classic subtle joke like that, which of course are lost now withthe passage of time.

I Love Lucy is a classic beyond classics and in a category of its own

Nothing on Seinfeld will beat the completely random comment made by Elaine at a party...

Elaine and Jerry end up at a party where they don't know anyone. They agree to give each other a signal when they need the other one to come and save them from a boring or pointless conversation...

Elaine ends up sitting with three other women around a coffee table...

One of the women is particularly obnoxious...she says:

LADY: "Has anyone seen my fiance?" "Where IS my fiance?"
ELAINE: (Looks disgusted and irritated by the woman).
LADY: "Where has my fiance gone?"
ELAINE: (Getting increasingly irritated)
LADY: "Has anyone seen my fiance?"
ELAINE: (Completely random and in an Aussie accent) "Maybe the dingo ate you baby."
LADY: "What?"
ELAINE: "The dingo...you know...ate you baby."

Why this scene kills me every time I see it, I know not why. I'm just imagining the writers of the show sitting around a table and someone comes up with that - completely out of the blue.
