for road trips? Which one is the best value, where is the best place to buy? Cost is a factor.
Thanks.

1. you get what you pay for |

I used to sell TVs at Best Buy (unfortunately) and we also sold the little portables DVD players too. There are some pretty cheap ones but the picture is either so-so or doesn't have a wide viewing angle. If you are the only one watching then that doesn't make a difference, but if it is two kids when you go to the store look at it from an angle to the right or left and see what the picture looks like.
A second hint is to not rely on the battery. Get an adapter that plugs into the cigarette lighter or buy a power inverter for really cheap on eBay or Radio Shack.
If you want to keep it for awhile and be able to take it on the plane with you and stuff I would stick to a name brand. But definetly go to the store and look at them, then go to eBay and buy it for half the price :)

at Comp USA. They were a generic brand and under 200.00. You can use them with batteries or plug into cigarette lighter in car. The extra bonus is you can hook them up to the television too. I don't know where the kids have them stashed right now so I can't tell you the name brand but Comp USA should be able to help you. I alos looked at best buy and circuit city but their sales people seemed uninterested in helping me so I prefer buying my electronics from Comp USA, their sales people work off comissions and are acually willing to engage the customers.
