WOW! Iowa family adopts family of NINE siblings (all under 16)

They already had EIGHT kids from previous adoptions....that makes 17 KIDS they are responsble for. I applaud them in their efforts. I'd love to hear how all of this turns out. Do the kids from St Louis do well in the farm lands of Iowa? This is REALLY a blended family...

The parents may or may not vote pug but if they do at least they don't appear to be hypocrites because they are taking care of those society has cast aside. That is true love regardless of your faith.

(KSDK) - Here is another story of great generosity. Last May, we told you about nine siblings hoping to be adopted.

More than a year later, their dream came true thanks to a couple from Iowa, who already had eight adopted children.

Now, 17 may be enough.

Last May, we met Danielle, Turez, Demarco, Deandre, Sierra, Demetrius, Denetra, Markiana and Demarion.

2. The article on Channel 5's website said that

her husband works in computers and they also get state aid until the kids are 18. I assume this means aid for all 17 and not just the nine from St Louis.

"It also takes a lot of money to raise 17 children. Brian is a full-time computer worker, and the state provides a monthly subsidy for each child until they're 18."

They must have money because the article also says they are hiring someone to help out,

"... But can they handle the challenge? Amanda says, "We've got a great support system. We're actually hiring a person to be in the house to help out."


I googled Amanda Friedl and came up with a web page from some ministry..she seems to be an amazing person, even though a fundie...

Amanda is a wife, teacher and mother (and that's a understatement) She works with Group Publishing as a speaker and trainer on topics such as adoption and children's ministry. Amanda and her husband, Brian, also work with "Young Life". Amanda serves as our fundraising coordinator and is also a another gifted idea person.

3. OMG a fundie who is a good person! Stop the presses!

I'm being sarcastic, of course. There ARE good "fundies" out there. I think people here forget that at times and paint these folks with a very broad (and hateful) brush.

I live in a town overrun with fundies and the majority are honest, hardworking, generous people. Let's not forget that.

4. The problem is that the people who are actually living

their faith are not those speaking to the media. They are too busy raising kind caring families and taking care of those families who have been cast aside.

5. Good for them

Someone who puts their money where their mouth is. Life is going to be tough for these kids, no matter what, but they now have a much better chance.

6. Nine kids who have been in and out of foster homes in

the St Louis area have seen and experienced a lot. I think it will be a difficult transition to Iowa farm life. Their new parents seem to be absolutely devoted to kids and are involved in organizations that reach out to kids. They will have a shot at a better life than what they had in St Louis that's for sure.

I just hope all the kids can get along with one another. Blending a family can be difficult under the best of circumstances, but bringing NINE new kids into the mix. This woman must be a saint!

Why do the McCoy septuplets get all the attention in Iowa? This woman and her family deserve more praise.

7. Sounds like free farm labor, lol

A couple times my GF (owns a farm) said she'd consider adopting and I was so surprised (she has tons of cats she adores much more than people, including me) but then she explained that the kid could basically be free labor in exchange for room and board. Yeesh!

8. That's why many farm families were very large

back in the day. Kids could work the fields and you didn't have to pay them. Cheaper to feed them than to hire a hand to work.
