http://oglobo.globo.com/online/esportes/147323690.aspRIO - Greek Polyvios Kossivas, who helped Brazilian Vanderlei Cordeiro de Lima in the Athens Olympics marathon, arrived at Rio this Friday and was welcomed with a party at the Galeão International Airport.
Kossivas came with wife Julia, daughter Smaragda, and friend George Dimantopoulos, and was surprised by the reception: members of the Confraria do Garoto club set up a carpet of roses, sprinkled him with perfume, rice, and coffee (???) and gave him a rose collar, a Samba group T-shirt, and a Brazilian flag.
Kossivas is the honor guest of the Brazilian Olympius Commitee in the Olympic Achievemt Awards ceremony, to be held Tuesday in the Municipal Theatre. He'll be awarded for being the first person to help Vanderlei de Lima loose from former priest Cornelius Horan, who tackeld him into the ground when he led the most traditional Olympic event.
