1. Just finished it. Loved it.

It's so rare that a popular novel can inspire you to read a half dozen or so other books on the subjects it deals with. My wife and I are actually planning to go to France and England next year to see some of the things discussed therein.

I would love to discuss this book with anyone who wants to.

3. I read it a while back and now I'm reading his "Angels and Demons"

which is the predecessor. It involves the same Robert Langdon character. I'm about half way through and so far it's not quite as riveting as DC but it's very similar. This one is about Galileo and the Illuminati.

2. Caught the abridged edition on CD

But it was obviously abridged and I feel that I probably missed out on quite a bit. Very interesting plot, though. And a very believable story. First mystery I have enjoyed since Encyclopedia Brown in 7th grade.

4. I Need to Get My Hands on it Yet

I've been familiar with the plot for almost 20 years, the "Christ kids" conspiracy. Recently a columnist in my local newspaper gave mention to it; with the book's popularity, what was a fun little conspiracy theory crosses into the mainstream and with it, there will be widespread, if not well-publicized, questioning about the descendents of the "Jesus" line, which - surprise! Leads straight down to dear old Dubya. Anyways, I'm in the midst of on-again / off-again working on an essay on the subject.

5. Millenium fantasists call it the Merovignian Line and it's

the root and branch of the P2 Lodge, whose past and present heritage & membership is well defined. Currently before the UK High Court is the entire database of the P2, including their birth, marriage, death certificates, National Insurance numbers, bank account numbers including offshore deposits, DNA printouts, proven aliases used, crimes committed and not yet prosecuted, etc etc etc. When you see Bush/Cheney/Blair shitting themselves, just say the magic words Roberto Calvi/God's Banker/Banco Ambrosiano/BCCI and smile - relax - and be happy there's an election coming up in 2004........

7. Yuck!

I read it. Stock plot, blanks filled in with Priory of Sion hash. Holy Blood Holy Grail was better fiction (wasn't meant to be, but it's fiction). If you like that stuff---it can be fascinating---google HBHG. There are discussion groups on that, I'm sure. If you can read French you may never emerge from such discussion, they are great consumers of conspiracy theory. Make Dan Brown look feeble.

9. I think it was purposely done that way

sure, the plot is campy but I think Brown was concentrating mainly on getting these ideas out there to the general public in a format they would go for. He sort of dumbed it down so John Q Public might read it and take something away from it. I think he was successful. The plot was just a vehicle to get these ideas out there and get people talking IMO.

on edit: I still found it very enjoyable as well as thought provoking.
