Can we start bitching about the Emmy's now?
I mean, I think we have now all seen it and we can openly discuss it.

All I can say is "WHAT THE FUCK???!!!!"

Ok, now that I got that off my chest.

Seriously, I was very disappointed with many of the wins. I've tried watching "Everybody Loves Raymond" but I think that show should be "Everybody but Lynnesin and many of her pals Loves Raymond" because I have yet to meet a person who can actually stomach that show. If Patricia Heaton had won I personally was going to throw my TV set out the window!!!!

I felt that Kim Catrell and Cheryl Hines were both much more deserving for Best Sup. in a Comedy. Kim Catrell who has done nothing but screw every man on "Sex and the City" had a real relationship for the first time in years and it brought the best out in her character and acting. (She's Samatha on Sex and the City) but my favorite has to be Cheryl Hines who plays Larry David's wife on "Curb Your Enthusians" Try and have Doris Roberts play a role that is totally Ad-Lib and actually make it believable. That's what Cheryl Hines does every week which is why "Curb your Enthusiam" is the best damn comedy on TV. (Or we could call it "Everybody Finds Larry David Obnoxious").

Secondly, when are we finally going to give "Malcolm in the Middle" the recognition it deserves. Jane K (I'm not going to attempt to spell it) and Bryan Cranston are the best couple on TV and their family is a real dysfunctional family. Someone give this pair an Emmy PLEASE!!!!

Also, I know we have a slew of West Wing fans here, but the TV show is starting to go downhill. Once again "Six Feet Under" was robbed although I think they wanted to give James Gandolfini an emmy (he's never won one before last night).

GRRRRRRRR......damn irritating night why did I bother watching???!!!

2. yup
The Sopranos should have won best Drama. Hell, HBO should have won every award it was nominated for.

This is why I didn't watch the Emmy's last night.

3. Raymond deserved its win!
Many times over.

Have to agree about Doris Roberts--I think she's good, but let's spread the wealth.

I believe James Gandolfini has won before--at least twice.

The West Wing winning was too awful for words!

5. I was also VERY disappointed
especially that Six Feet Under and Curb Your Enthusiam were left out . They are, imho, the BEST shows on T.V. I am glad that Debra Messing won (I think she's been really good over the course of Will & Grace). I feel Cheryl Hines should've won or one of the Sex in the City gals. I'm also glad that Jon Stewart won big!!!!That was the highlight for me. Esp. when he beat out Dennis Miller. But all in all, very disappointing.

4. I Agree, Lynne!
I was pissed when Kim Cattrall didn't win-she is by far the best actress on SATC. Doris Roberts wins as the overbearing Italian mother again? And Brad Garrett again?

Curb Your Enthusiasm is the funniest show on TV. When does the new season start? I can't wait!!!

Also, I meant to add that I think Peter Krause' performance as Nate in Six Feet Under was the best ever...damn...he SO should have won.-(

7. Keifer Sutherland was robbed!
The guy went from being in a deep depression over his murdered wife, to cutting a guys head off, to watching his friends get blown up, to having to confront his wife's killer, to being in a plane crash, to facing his own death in a nuclear explosion, to being tortured, to dying, to being brought back from death, to having to tell his daughter to shoot someone, to saving the world.

I think that deserves something!

8. You know, a lot of people were probably robbed, including Kiefer!
I think it's fun to bitch--it's my favorite hobby, but keep in mind one thing:

These people nominated make a shitload of money!

I think if they don't win it's not so awful. It's a game, so what the hey!

9. I hate Raymond too
I don't know anyone that loves that stupid-ass show. And I never liked West Wing. The only good part was Debra Messing finally getting her Emmy.

10. Networks vs. HBO?
I don't see how any network show can even compete with HBO offerings.

West Wing over The Sopranos or Six Feet Under?

Everybody Loves Raymond over Curb Your Enthusiasm?

Get real! Network TV is not even in the same league as HBO.

What a crock!

15. Anyone see the Cos get pissed?
I don't know who the irriating "comedian" going around the audience was, but she was totally unfunny and seemed to only annoy everyone. It looked like Bill Cosby wanted to punch her in the mouth when she came by him. Saying something about how on his show they spoke English.

She was annoyingly UNfunny ...

Those shows are long enough, without the stupid schtick that they feel obligated to add..

16. I thought most of the comics were lame
They had too many of them, which made the show go on too long. I did like Jon Stewart's and Conan O'Brien's bits. I normally like Wanda Sikes, but she was NOT funny last night. She looked great in her dress, tho.

Count me as another who doesn't love Raymond. I never got Seinfeld, either.

17. They could have skipped all those comics
I found them boring - usually took extended commericial breaks in the bathroom when I saw them.

But Stewart was funny and I did enjoy Ellen a little bit!

What were they thinking?

and can I say I am not a huge fan of dangle earrings...some of the faces of the attractive women wearing them were completely
lost in them.

19. My gripe is several people from the same show, all nominated
for the same award.. I know that "good" shows have several "good" characters, but one category had 5 nominees, and 3 were from the same show.. Kind of like stacking the deck:(

Jane Kaczmarek did win an emmy a few years back..i remember she was very pregnant at the time, and was very funny in her acceptance..

This was the first time I have watched the Emmy's in YEARS, and little had changed, except that it seemed more disjointed and lonnnnnng..

It's been about a year since I watched ANYTHING faithfully..

It's also not fair to have the cable shows in direct competition with the "network" shows. The cable shows have so much more latitude than the others do..

and the way they load up the categories is not really fair.. To pit a Robin Williams broadway show against several daily late night shows is not fair..

and I SOOOOOOO HATE the awarding of emmys to ANY other awards show..It's almost a wink wink nod nod thing and it would be much more appropriate if they put ALL awards shows in one category..

All in all, it was kind of a meanspirited show.

yawn...

21. THE FRIGGIN WEST WING?!?!?!?!?!?!
Grumbling ALL last night. They might as well have resurrected a nomination for Law and Order and gave it the Emmy. Six Feet Under did not win because new shows have to be around three or four years to win...Next year I guarantee a major win or two for Six Feet Under.

But the *&^*7&@ West Wing? Especially when the Sopranos had some of the greatest moments on TV? EVERYONE was talking about how BAD The West Wing had become. The Networks and major studios butter the Academy bread, I guess. HBO will have to take best Drama from the Academy's cold dead hands, I guess.

22. Politics..
even in entertainment..

Cutting edge shows do well withouot the "promotion".. The ones that are a bit "long in the tooth" , often get the emmy to "boost" them for another season..

23. The best winner of the night - JOEY PANTS
He won for best supporting in a drama with his role in The Sopranos. That did make me happy, he was the reason I turned in and watched The Sopranos each week!!!

27. Tony Shaloub made me cry...
I thought his speech was the most heartfelt and obviously unplanned, yet beautiful and heartbreaking, acceptance speech I've ever seen on an award show.

I thought the Emmys were somewhat entertaining this year, though I disagreed with many of their choices.

Did anyone else feel it was a particularly bad year for dead celebrities? I mean, a LOT of people died in the past year! There are always a lot, but I felt it was more so, and more big names, than usual.
