I'm sick of the music I've been listening to. Any suggestions?

OK. I need some help finding music to listen to. I've been listening to the same few CDs over and over, and quite frankly, I can't take it anymore. Anyone have any recommendations? I'm open to listening to anything at least once.

Couldn't be happier, more content, and more entertained. Perfect music for a Saturday night home with my son.

3. Get Winamp.

(I assume you are on Windows. If Linux, XMMS.) Go into the media manager area of Winamp and download the latest list of Shoutcast streamcasting "stations". Fiddle about. Find some new music you like.

before i get specific, most libraries have a cd section now, so you can borrow cds (some even have regional collaboratives) so you can try a bunch of stuff.

here or some options:

Kenny White- the guy is amazing, unbelieveable keyboard player asnd songwriter...

The Blue Nile- if Richie Havens loves them, and you like Havens, you'll like them

Anything by Cab Callaway- preferably stuff from the early mid thirties

Eva Cassidy- voice of angel- anything

Jane Monheit- voice of an old girlfriend calling on a rainy night asking what are you doing tonite

Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes- Heart of STone

Greg Brown- anything

Garnet Rogers- Night Drive, check out the title track

My favorite is CD by them is "Beethoven's Last Night"

My wife and I just saw them in concert last night in Green Bay, WI. If you love classical music and rock and have never found an outlet to enjoy both, TSO will cure your need. IMHO these guys (and gals) embody "genious" and are masters of music in every sense.

Something for everyone, and their stage show will blow your mind!

20. I love TSO!

I absolutely love TSO - Beethoven's Last Night is an amazing album! My brother saw them live and said that they were incredible - I am dying to see them myself.

A few of the other bands I enjoy that you might want to check out are: Matthew Good (who also has a wonderful weblog), Placebo, Rufus Wainwright, and Vanessa Carlton.

Still, I agree with one of the other posts that you should also pick up an instrument and create your own music!

19. Over the years I've learned to play six instruments.

In order of my expertise...guitar, clarinet, flute, sax, keyboards, and percussion. I learned the woodwinds while in public school in New York, where I understand they still care about cultural education. I picked up guitar in college, along with keyboards and drums. Hard to be a rocker playing the clarinet! It's a gift you can give yourself, and it can never be taken away! Learn those chops well!!!

listen to "Kind of Blue" by Miles Davis. It's a classic recording, probably over forty years old by now, but it may be one of the best ever.
I just listened to it again today for the first time in a long time---it's still a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
