I don't poison myself with maraschino cherries. And they're too damned sweet.

The only drink that it is acceptable to use a maraschino cherry is an Aviation. And I suppose, if one is the type to want to drink a Southern Comfort or Brandy Old Fashioned, a cherry is okay in that, too, but I'd be somewhat hesitant to allow that person to do my interior decorating.

with a stem, of course, so i can try to tie it into a knot after i eat it.

what kind of suit are you wearing? what color? i love a man relaxing in a suit with the smell of sweet vermouth and bourbon floating in the air. it reminds me of my father when i was a little girl.

11. It was - and I feel like I'm tyring to be such a "Oooh, I'm coool" type -

but it's a black Calvin Klein suit. It's a beautiful suit. I love Calvin Klein - their clothing fits my body incredibly well, so I have CK jeans, underwear, t-shirts.

And, of course, I only wear cufflinks. No button sleeves for me.

p.s. - the furniture is black leather. Italian. :-)

Ck is indeed sharp and sexy. Though my primary motivation is that Ck fits me better than anything else, I am, I admit, also kinda glad that it's sharp and sexy, and sharp and sexy beyond just the sharp and sexy that ones gets for wearing clothing that actually fits - the designs themselves are sharp and sexy.

3. And I really have to let you know, I'm drinking it while I wear a suit

Still in my Sunday worship suit (with the jacket still on), enjoying an elegant cocktail, watching the Packers game, hanging out on DU.

Everybody knows that drinking beer and wearing sweats is the only suitable way to watch a Packers game. Get with the program.

I almost bought beer today. Forgot the football game was on, though, so I didn't.

I could be sipping a nice chimay ale from a goblet, and could slip into silk pajamas and a yukata and be smoking my pipe, maybe with some scented candles burning and the fireplace going.

6. I gotta rub it in, people, that this Manhattan is tasting GOOOOD

I haven't had a Manhattan in a few years, and now I'm remembering why it's such a wonderful winter drink, and thinking to myself, "Why don't I make these more often?" instead of making Martinis all the time.

But on the other hand, the Martini is so perfect, it's difficult sometimes to have something else.

10. Memories !!

My dad used to have a gallon or two of Manhattan's after work every day... I thought it was a local NE Wisconsin type of drink or a concoction of his own invention.

Instead of bourbon?

I make mine with brandy. Sadly, I've never even tried the bourbon ones, except when I was in high school, and I hated it. That might explain why I've never tried it again. But I love bourbon. But on the other hand, I refuse to drink cheap bourbon, and if one has good, expensive bourbon, I'm not about to mix sweet vermouth with it - I'll drink it neat or on the rocks, like it was intended. Mixing - what a waste.

So, I'll probably never have a bourbon Manhattan. I don't mind buying cheaper brandies, since I don't drink brandy straight - I have armagnac and cognac for that.
