Trivia - what is this scary bit of narration from?
I was just in the shower and heard a strange, prolonged rumble-type sound. I'm sure it was a plane, but it made me think of this:

Opening Narration:
"Is this the day? Is this the beginning of the end? There is no time to wonder, no time to ask, 'Why is it happening, why is it finally happening?' There is time only for fear, for the piercing pain of panic. Do we pray? Or do we merely run now, and pray later? Will there be a later? Or is this the day?"

Anybody recognize what that is from? Does it ring a bell? Can you get it without googling?

3. It rang a bell....
But I did have to google it, sorry. Some days my brain is a sieve.

"Scarecrows and magic and other fatal fears do not bring people closer together. There is no magic substitute for soft caring and hard work, for self-respect and mutual love. If we can learn this from the mistake these frightened men made, then their mistake will not have been merely grotesque. It will have been at least a lesson—a lesson at last to be learned."

4. I'll hazard a guess...
Is it from the radio broadcast of "War of the Worlds?" That would be my best guess.

It also bears a strong similarity to my remarks the day Shrub was inaugurated!

5. Saturday, I had a similar experience.
Had just gone outside and I heard the very loud sound of helicopters - there were four of them, flying one behind the other. I had somewhat of a similar reaction as you - but, on closer inspection, they were not military helicopters.
