n/t Colorado is not only the best four-cornered state it is also the best state in the Four Corners. If you situate yourself right on the four corners marker and look northwest you will see how much better it iseven as little as a yard away :silly:

7. Oooh tough one I've been to two of them-Utah and Arizona

Though PaHoenix does have that "damn look at all the junkyards by the airport" charm and my best friend said that Flagstaff was the coolest town he has ever been in and I really did love the Grand Canyon Utah has that blonde thin air thing going for it and they do keep very good records so I am going to have to go with............New Mexico.

Utah and Arizona, so I don't feel qualified to comment on the other two states. By the way, I'm moving to Utah at the end of this month (girlfriend got promoted to the corporate office, and she'll let me go back to school to get my bachelor's in computer science), anybody have any tips for living there?

Shhh... don't tell anyone especially conservatives. Tell liberals if they are looking for a cool state. NM is pretty liberal in spite of Bush (supposedly) winning NM in 2004. NM has a high percentage of Hispanics and Native Americans, which probably accounts for the Democratic leaning of the state. New Mexico is a little-discussed treasure of the U.S., and the feeling you get when you are there is different from any other place in the U.S. It's just sort of an "authentic" feel, I don't know how else to describe it. Really the whole Colorado Plateau area (northern AZ, southern UT and CO, northern NM) has that same effect, but the other 3 states are spoiled by right-wingers. But don't tell too many people about NM or else it will become overrrun and thus ruined like so many other good places have (California, Hawaii, etc.) Don't go to NM seeking great fortune, go there seeking an authentic, peaceful life.

Gary Johnson was governor when I lived there a few years ago. He was a tri-athlete and I met him once through my job as a reporter. He was a hell of a nice guy, despite the fact he was republican.

If we get enough, we might get another EV by 2012. NM has been trending Republican recently (Clinton in '92 and '96 by healthy margins, Gore in '00 by 366 votes and this jerk by supposedly 5000 votes). We need more liberals!

If the results very Republican San Juan County were any indication, Kerry should have swept NM.

2000: Gore 30% Bush 70%
2004: Kerry 40% Bush 60%

Rep. Tom Udall won NM 3rd Dist. by some huge margin, like 65%-35%. Since 3rd Dist. contains Santa Fe, Taos and Rio Arriba County, all Dem bastions, this should be no surprise, but Udall also carried San Juan County by exactly 3 votes (yes, you heard me, 3). Thing is, his challenger, Greg Tucker, lives here. It should have been a Republican slaughter across the board, but it wasn't. Something's fishy.
