Congrats to gracious Oregon Duck fans - very nice to your Wolverine guests
after the disappointing loss in Eugene, I have to admit that despite everything I have heard to the contrary, the Ducks' fans were all very, very nice to us. I thought one guy was more upset for me than I was, he sounded so sad when he congratulated me for a good game. And when we went out afterwards, our server was also very nice also. I have only seen Michigan play on the road in 3 places - UCLA, Michigan State, and Oregon, and the Oregon fans were by far the nicest. It's always a test for me - if you can't be a gracious WINNER, who are you?

Anyway, thanks Duck fans, for making us feel better. (Now, if you can just talk to those referees......)

1. That's nice to hear
My sister-in-law is originally from Oregon, and she's amazingly nice, smart, and funny.

I too was traumatized by the loss on Saturday - I really thought I smelled national championship on our guys. Who schedules these West Coast trips every year? They're a spoiler threat every time, just by the differing nature of East Coast/West Coast football.

It'll be some consolation when U-M wins the Big Ten and beats the tar out of OSU. :D

2. I'm glad you had a good experience
Although I didn't go to the game (not really a football fan and I didn't go to college in Oregon), I thought I'd pass this story along to you. I was in the women's locker room after a swim today at a community center and I overheard some Ducks fans talking about the game. They were incensed. Why? Because they'd seen an Oregon student wearing an anti-Michigan T-shirt that apparently contained the F-word and was very rude. "There's just no excuse for that!" "They should have told him to turn it inside out!" I had a little chuckle over that.

3. I think those guys were Ohio State fans
Everyone saw them and a lot of people were commenting. The shirts weren't brand new, and the lettering was red (on white shirts.) They were really stupid - they said "F*** Michigan" on the front, and on the back they said, "Ann Arbor is a Whore." Of course, that makes no sense at all, but (with apologies to AngryWhiteDemocrat) this is the school that invited Shrub to speak at their commencement.

In fact, one of the people wearing those shirts was seen after the game carrying a child on his back, right over the stupid "whore" message. An Oregon fan (woman) near me was looking at that, and she said, "someone should go up to that little kid and tell him to say, daddy, what does w-h-o-r-e spell?" She thought he should be ashamed.

4. Thanks, LisaM!
Did you get to go to the Celebration downtown on Friday or Saturday night? I think it was an evil, twisted plot to put Michigan in the downtown Hilton, with three music stages surrounding it. I bet no players or coaches slept on Friday night.

I worked a concession stand at the game (hotdogs under the scoreboard) as a fundraiser ... and the Michigan fans were always treated with good natured ribbing.

5. LOL, no, I didn't get downtown, but that does explain something!
I was wondering if the O-Line had the flu or something. Apparently it was just lack of sleep!

6. Thanks from A Eugenian

Did you go the Eugene Celebration downtown? Did you see me walking around in my Dean T-shirt. :)

8. No, I didn't go downtown
we spent the night in Salem, and did not get to downtown Eugene (and, despite the niceness of the fans, I really didn't feel like celebrating!) But it was a nice town, and I would like to go back under more auspicious circumstances.

7. Happy you had a good time
That was one game where NOBODY left before the end!

What did you think of the new U of O band uniforms? In my opinion, if they were trying to make a statement, I think the statement was "yes, we have no taste..." Blasted things look like they came from "SS R Us". And what's with the HELMETS???

Did you have a chance to catch any of the Eugene Celebration festivities?

10. The football and band uniforms were weird
I don't like Nike uniforms in general (you just can't get those stripes to line up) and the green was a really ugly color. I heard one commentator on the radio say that in their road uniforms, the Oregon team looked like a bunch of highlighters.

I hadn't seen previous band uniforms, so can't really compare them. Fortunately, Michigan's football uniforms are tamper proof.
