Thoughts on a DVD-R/RW drive for a Dell Inspiron 1100? |
|
My brother-in-law would like to put a DVD-R/RW drive in his girlfriend's Inspiron 1100 for Xmas. Anybody have any experience or thoughts on this matter? I'm pretty clueless when it comes to installing drives in notebooks, or what the best kind are. Thanks!

Is there some sort of standard for such things?

doesn't work with my version of Roxio. I haven't tried to write DVDs with it but the drive smoked ( ruined ) several CDR disks that I tried to burn.
I've read some reviews of this drive on the Dell forum and it's hit and miss. The drive is made by Samsung.
If you get an internal Dell DVD+RW drive make sure you get the newer DVD 8X write model.
Stay away from the Samsung 4X!
