7. We're no longer called Sonic Death Monkey.
We're on the verge of becoming Kathleen Turner Overdrive, but just for tonight, we are Barry Jive and his Uptown Five.

17. I prefer the book
Much, much better. I felt much of the comedy didn't really translate to American. Nick Hornby rules!

A random factoid: Most of High Fidelity was filmed half a block from where I live. I spent an entire summer arguing with asshole PAs that didn't want to let me walk down my own street. I laugh my ass off every time I see the film, because my neighborhood looks so clean. Ah, the beauty of Hollywood.

22. Did you think High Fidelity was a chick flick?
I thought it was more of a "dick flick" since so many of the guys I know are obsessed by it. But I guess anything with John Cusack has to automatically be labeled a "chick flick" ever since Say Anything.

23. I really didn't think of it as *only* a chick flick.
Like most excellent stories, it offers a bit of something to relate to that crosses gender, socio-economic and cultural barriers.

I've always marvelled at the few films I've seen where all the guys came out thinking they'd seen a dude-movie and all the chicks came out thinking they'd seen a chick flick. Hi-fidelity is like that.

30. Susang, I'm sorry that I have to disagree with you...
I prefered the movie. I found the writing of the book to be self-indulgent and undisciplined, while the movie was very tight. I also thought the movie was much better at getting across the point that the main character was essentially a solipsistic heel who really doesn't find any aesthetic pleasure in music (it just functions as markers and milestones in his self-absorbed life)
