Wireless Mice: Wonders of Technology or A Good Idea Gone Wrong

I'm at a different computer today and the mouse I'm using has that red little sensor thing instead of the ball. The weird thing is that this mouse isn't even wireless, but I guess the ball is too out of date. I like mice with the ball at the bottom, hell I like the mice that have the huge ball in the middle that you just roll around. I find wireless mice to be a waste of money. They sensor is too sensitive and the mouse flies all over the screen if you move it a millimeter into the air. Does the computer that I'm using just have a poor sensor mouse or do other people out there agree?

You can adjust the cursor speed so it's not so zippy quick.

4. You need to adjust the mouse setting on that computer.

It is set to be more sensitive on that computer, and would be with a ball-mouse as well.

Optic mice are prefers because they really never wear out and are more reliable. I preferred an optic mouse, it never needs cleaning or anything.

7. Wireless v. Optic

Wireless is where there is no cable going to the computer, the mouse is just free-standing and not connected to anything. Optic mice are where the ball has been replaced with the light sensor. I wireless optic mouse would be both, and I wish I had one!

A wireless keyboard would also have no cable connected to the computer, and I would agree that that would be nice.

6. I Don't Care So Much About Wireless

but replacing the ball with a laser was a huge improvement. That ball was always sticking or skipping. No such problems with the laser.

8. I have corded optical mouse on one computer and had a

wireless optical mouse on another. I love them both, but the wireless one was AWESOME. It quit working on me one day and I just plugged in a spare mouse we had lying around until my hubby is home and can check out the cordless one. If we can't get it to work, I am going out and buying the cordless keyboard/mouse combo, any cord I can get rid of is a big help.


Oh, yeah mine was Logitech also. Good brand of mouse, no matter what kind of mouse it is.

9. The only wireless "mouse" that makes sense is a trackball...

Because you still need to have it on the desk to use a wireless mouse. Isn't the wirless part supposed to allow you to move around or something? :shrug:

10. I always break my mouse tails.

By that I mean I always break the mouse wires at the mouse (bumping it into things while working.) So wireless was desireable to me.

As most wireless mice today are also optical, mine is optical as well. I bought a cheapee, and am paying for it. It has poor resolution and reaction time, making playing games with it a bit frustrating. Newer optics don't have those problems.

I need to get some rechargable batteries for it, though. It eats a pair of AA's every couple months.
