I don't really have any questions, just curious as to whether anyone else is using it yet. I haven't found anyone.

Zoloft quit working for me a couple of years ago. I was on Effexor for a while and it worked GREAT, until my blood pressure spiked. Cymbalta is quite similar to both of them and is supposed to be free of the BP problem. So far, so good.

But because he's in Dallas and I'm still in Pittsburgh, I don't know what's going on! You haven't had any adverse side effects, I take it? I know the new SSRIs seem to each improve on the one before in terms of side effects.

No matter which SSRI I take, I live with a pretty bad headache. It's an irritant, but a small price to pay.

I chose to stay in Pittsburgh to finish law school because I just had one year left. I'll move to Dallas after my graduation in May.

6. Did You Have Sleep Troubles with Other SSRIs?

One reason I stopped is that on most of them I couldn't sleep properly at night and during the day I felt like I had been up all night.

But I have no problems with Zoloft unless I go off of it - THEN the problems begin. I believe Bertha Venation said Zoloft stopped working for her, though. Maybe her dosage wasn't high enough?

10. Yes, especially Prozac.

I've used Prozac, Celexa, Paxil, Zoloft, Lexapro (is that an SSRI?), Effexor, and now Cymbalta. They've all given me headaches. All have disturbed my sleep, but Cymbalta is nowhere nearly as bad as the others.

15. How Do You Know

it's the SSRI that are giving you the headaches. I've taken Prozac for years and it has worked great. I have bouts with constant headaches. For example, I had no headaches all summer. Then fall rolls around and I've had a headache ever since. The headaches don't correspond with anything I can identify. I've wondered if it was the Prozac, but how to tell? There's a million causes for headaches, and headache is my thing. EVErYTHING gives me a headache.

14. Its only my 5th day with it, major difference.

I hear what you say re drugs, I feel the same. I would rather not take any maintenance drugs. But over the last two weeks especially I have been crashing from the weight of my wife and my situation which is no jobs, no money, spent retirement, spent savings, and lots of current and overdue bills.

It was like all light left me and all I wanted to do was to find a deeper and darker place. A lightning strike to me was my greatest hope, I still have a little insurance which would only pay in the case of an accident.

I have been on Prozac for several years and it worked well enough. Last spring I decided to ween myself from the drug and try to quit (with Dr help). every thing seemed to go OK and I felt good about cooping with my feelings. But then came shorted days colder temps, the fraud called election and home foreclosure getting closer every day. I am truly surprised my head didn't explode, I am thankful for my wife forcing me to get back on something.

The Lexapro seems real speedy to me, I dont remember the Prozac being this heavy feeling although at first taking Prozac I felt a little pick up. But not as much as this Lexapro which is supposed to be known for its fast action. Again I am only on my 5th day!

And I am able to focus on the problems and have actually made some progress in resolving some of our financial issues. The change has been dramatic.

Good luck with the ssri you are taking, hang in there Bertha Venation.

i've only heard positive things about it.

i'm currently taking effexor which isn't really working, and i may switch to cymbalta, even tho it's a lot more expensive.

16. I work in a psych hospital and I've seen good results

thus far. Cymbalta is especially effective in folks with chronic pain because it seems to help control the pain also!!
