Finally back to work after Isabel
I have finally returned to work after Isabel. I was one of the lucky ones, I only lost power at my apartment from about Thursday at 4pm till Saturday around 11am. There are still so many here at the lab that don't have power, water, etc.. and don't know when everything will come back on. I am also very greatful that my apartment didn't suffer any damage and there was only very minor damage to most of the apartment complex. Just to think that this was only a Cat 1/2 storm, I don't want to think what would of happened if this came in at a 4 or 5. I hope that everyone else on this list in this area are safe. Supposedly 75% of the power should be restored by thursday.

1. Where are you?
SCOTTIE--If you're in the D.C. metro area, I understand there were still 300,000 without power as of last night. My wife's aunt and uncle in Arlington didn't have power from Thursday afternoon until Sunday morning ( :wow: ), and the wife of a grad-school roomate of mine said her folks in Bethesda, Md., lost power for three days also.

I sure hope cleanup is progressing well where you are--lots of trees down, from what I understand. Stay safe!

B-)

4. I live in in the Hampton roads area of Virginia.
Tons of trees were down in my neighborhood. I am just so thankful that I didn't have to go through without power for all that long. Some of my co-workers still don't have power and don't really have a clue to when it will be restored.

3. Glad you are OK . Been in storms and they are not my cup of tea
The last one I had no lights for 5 days and what a drag. If I did not love to read I would have gone nuts. My som finally called the fire department to find out if I was OK. They came walking up the drive telling me that at my age I was not on list to be checked for another week, but that my son and friends were getting up tight. I had not gone to the shelter. It was an Ice storm and cold but I had a stove so could cook and keep warm. Melted snow for the toilet and all is OK.
