I want it to be Redsox/Astros, Redsox win.

Grady Little and Jimy Williams are good friends. And also, I believe that Boston beating New York for the championship, and then beating Houston to break the curse would be a good precurser to the dems defeating Bush 12 months later

2. cubs vs. red sox
both teams are cursed and neither can win the world series. so game 7 would be interesting to see....probably it would launch armageddon before the 9th inning.

13. sox would have an advantage against the cubs
Every single one of the cubs top 4 starting pitchers are right-handed.

The small redsox offensive weakness this year tends to be against lefties, because Nixon, Ortiz, and Walker can barely hit off of them.

16. stats mean nothing when you're talking about either....
...the cubs or the red sox. both teams are cursed. that's why i think a cubs/red sox series would mark the end of the world.

with the score tied in the bottom of the ninth in game seven, sammy would hit a towering blast that would appear to be the game winner but it would ricochet off the left field foul pole, the foul pole would come crashing down onto the field opening up a huge hole that would suck the whole world into it.

19. The cubs haven't even been the the world series
in like 50 years.

With '67, '86, and '03, the third time will be the charm

Mueller, Millar, Nixon, and Veritek are all having Career years. Everybody else, including our superstars are consistent. That's how you get a world series champion

24. actually almost 60 for the cubs.....
their last world series appearance was 1945 i believe.

regarding the red sox, they had great talent in their previous pennant years....they're stuck with the same type of curse that banks, williams, jenkins, santo, holtzman had to deal with in '69 and sandberg, sutcliffe, eckersley, trout, lee smith, and the rest had to deal with in '84.

babe cursed the sox and a goat cursed the cubs. the results have been the same.

It's feared that if the Cubs wind up in the Series, either huge, purple aliens or Satan will appear and turn us all into slaves... :P

all you other cub fans here: read w.p. kinsella's short story titled "the last world series before armageddon". it's hilarious.

PS there is no such thing as the "curse of the bambino" you seem too rational to buy into that BS.

7. My Twins are hot....they're going, man.
don't care who the NL Club is. Well, the Braves should have to sit down because they suck in ways unimagined in other cities.
But the Twins will rip up any opponent because they got white-hot at the right time.

9. I sure hope so
But part of my enthusiasm for the Twins is tempered by who they've played during this white-hot streak. The CWS are collapsing (granted, we may have kicked that off). Detroit just set a new AL record for losses in a season. And the next victim, Cleveland, ain't so hot either.

At any rate, I'm behind them 100%. GO TWINS!

14. Yeah, baby!
Twins vs. anybody!

I'm down here in GA, so it would be sweet to see another Twins-Braves matchup, especially since the Bravos are destined to choke. But I'd really love Twins-Cubs or Twins-Giants.

If the Twins don't advance, A's and Giants would be way cool, or Red Sox and Cubs.

15. That's not fair to have another all California world series
it would be an all northern california world series too.

The A's are gonna have to go through the sox in the devision series before anything.

And without the sox sweeping the M's in August, the A's wouldn't have the west(maybe the wildcard though).

17. The Yanks aren't as good as they have been in years past
meaning, not the best, but only almost the best

Other than Jeter, Johnson, and Posada, your lineup is slumping. And Riviera, Wells, and Clemens are all over the pitching Hill.

27. Yeah, anybody on that team can step up
The Yanks always seem to limp into the playoffs, but once they start, it's as if a new team is playing. I think this year will be the last hoo-rah for Clemens, though. If they win it all, I bet he retires.

28. Cubs vs. Red Sox
It would be great. But I'm not sure my beloved Cubbies can hold on. The middle relievers have been inconsistent and somedays, the bats just go silent.

And, of course, there's always the spotty defense. Thank God for Mark Prior.
