It's obvious...well, at least to me...that the film actresses of the past were more glamorous than those of today.

4. Phucking Brilliant Actress--Robbed for Sunset Boulevard...one of
the greatest actresses ever, and very under-rated. A lesser actress would have made Nora Desmond look the way Carol Burnett did it--she pulled off one of the most difficult roles ever.

And, as she noted in her autobiography, she could "wear clothes."

5. Indeed - although I love Judy Holliday in Born Yesterday
Swanson totally deserved the Best Actress award for Norma Desmond.

Her bio is great - really one of my favorite silent film memoirs.
