Is Bartcop a total asshole or what?

I sent him an email asking him to give me credit when he runs one of my cartoons. Instead of emailing me back he posted this message on his site (and put words in my mouth to boot!). What a dickhead.

 Dude, you totally went about this in the wrong way.

You didn't mention which cartoon was yours, ...so I can't stop making you angry. I went to your webpage and didn't see any recent toons that I've used.
Why in the world do you not sign your work? People can't give your credit even if they want to. You opened with a double negative and a chip on your shoulder - that's a hueueueuge mistake.
    Think how different the world would be if angry people started by saying,
   "Thanks for using my cartoon, I'm flattered that you like it enough to use,
    but could credit my site for it so I can get more hits?"
    That's how you make friends and get more hits so people will notice your talent.

But he definitely DOES take "first impressions" too seriously, especially from electronic communications.

I'm sure that he has to answer a LOT of negative mail, even from supporters (there's always someone up in arms over SOMETHING he said), that he gets caught up in pissy answers.

How would he have known? I think that is why he is defensively asking why you don't sign them, because this is probably a frustration for him--on many submissions. I certainly understand where you are coming from, but why not give him benefit of the doubt? Just my thoughts....

you could have been a bit more friendly and given a bit more of an explanation. I think you may need to chill out a little. Keep in mind that Bart gets a lot of email every day and doesn't have time to search down everything. if you want to get a mention, make sure you include the info and specifically ask for the mention. otherwise, sign your work.

Although you can put in some code to disable right-clicking, which is the easiest way to copy something. It won't cut it out entirely, but it makes it a bit harder. Also, why attack bartcop if you don't even know that he's the one stealing your images. He seems rather honest, which is why I'm saying that you shouldn't have come out with an attack like that, and bart was right to send you the email that he did. I feel for your situation though. it does suck when your work is stolen.

He says over and over that he doesn'thave a staff and gets tons of material. He makes mistakes sometimes as a result. He probably didn't remember your first email he gets so overwhelmed. I would be with you if he didn't make such a point of saying this stuff all the time.

He should have emailed you to say what he said, but what he said was right, and it was a bit amusing, which is why he worded it that way.

Two possible reasons he didn't email you first: One, maybe he felt you were rude to him first. It sounds like he felt you attacked him first, without hearing his point of view, so he got you back by posting publicly. Second, maybe he gets this problem a lot, and just decided to use your case as an example.

I don't think his response was rude at all, though.
