Yet more infantilism from my 2nd home, Japan...

Japanese men lap up new comfort

Japanese men without a shoulder to cry on this Christmas are being offered a woman's lap - made out of foam - to rest on instead.

The "lap pillow", shaped like the bottom half of a kneeling woman, is selling for about 9,429 yen ($90), the French news agency AFP reported.

9. They Do!
A company there manufactures arm-like pillows for single women to cozy up to at night. Saw this in the news a few weeks ago.

8. To be honest
I wouldn't mind a lap to cry on right now, foam or not.

My car leaks, my basement leaks, something's been wrong with my phone for four days and I can't make or receive calls, my mother has to have heart surgery, my dad is having a hard time getting around, so I've been doing their errands in addition to working more than full time at my store.

Last night I turned on Arrested Development after someone told me it was hilarious and it would cheer me up. One of the characters was going to hang himself with a belt about midway through the show. Yesterday was the six-month anniversary of my husband's suicide by the same manner.

So yes, a foam lap to cry on would sound nice. Sorry for the rant. :(

11. Ouch!
I'm so sorry. It's so hard when you get unexpected reminders of painful things - they blindside you. I didn't even know anyone who died on 9/11, yet every time I'm watching a movie and I see the WTC, it hits me in the gut. Not comparable to what you're feeling, I know, but the same type of thing. Blindsided. :grouphug:

12. that's okay... it's a rough time to be down with all the forced cheer
and weird sparkly buy buy buy vibe in the air. i lost my job a few weeks ago and have been at the end of my rope, too. lotta little bad things and i lost a good friend, my cat and had a bad breakup all in the last four months. and it always takes things a while to hit me, too. i am finally depresed about the election- i spent five weeks flipping between shock and anger! weird. i'm finally grieving for the country. not the easiest time, either. i know it will pass. always does.

14. Good God, woman!
You need more than a lap to cry on, I think... Someone to draw you a nice hot bath, pour you a nice cup of tea and rub your shoulders while you relax.

I'm so sorry, FY.

16. FY, I'm so sorry for your troubles.
I don't know what to say except your words touched me. I hope your folks get to feeling better, and yourself as well.
