I don't think he was expecting it, like I said. I beat him the game before, too- that one was a lot closer, though, until the end of the middle game.

4. Morphy would have been proud of you. 4... Be6?! looks like a novelty,

and a bad one. 15.Nxc6!! is a very nice combination after 14...0-0-0??, but it looks like 21.g4+ Kxg4 22.Rg1 Kh3 23.Qf1+ Kh4+ 24.Qf2+ Kh5 25.Qf3+ Kh4 26.Bf2# would have been better, while after 21.Qd3+ he has 21...Ke6 and things are not that clear anymore.

5. Yeah, I was looking at it, and there were other

possibilities...coulda sac'd the knight instead of the rook, but I thought the knight would be immediately stronger if his king went back into the corner...

And my play at the end probably isn't very tight. Neither was his, though. He could have tried harder to get his king out, but I think I would have stopped him.

But his best bet might have been blocking with his knight on move 19, giving some back...if I remember correctly, that would have given him some space to move his king back and get his queen involved.
