My damn ears are still humming at night.....

WHen I lie down for bed there's a hum. It won't go away last nigh tI freaked out and cut an ear off. Well not really, but I did freakout and started smacking my ears hoping that would fix the problem...for some reason.

Any ideas? Suggestions?

Taking analgesics, by any chance? Lots of pain killers will make your head ring, particularly aspirin.

Or did you just get off stage from performing with The Who?

Whenever I'd lay down, I'd hear it. I would turn on the fan full blast just drown it out.

7. A couple of thoughts...

You may have a small sinus infection. Try some hot and/or cold therapy on your face. Also, unrelated to sinus infections, some docs prescribe the supplement nicotinic acid for the problem.

One other thing that might help, until you get it resolved, is to put on some very low static in the background--like from a radio, not tuned to a station. It might mask the humming or distract you from it.

From past experience , I would say, see an eye, ear, nose Dr. I had the same type of thing years ago and was helped by a Dr. finally.

11. Think of things running in your house or nearby

Like the refrigerator or even a clock. Or maybe it is something at a neighbor's house. Or is there a manufacturing plant nearby? I read an article years ago about a plant that was emitting a very low frequency hum that resulted in people's organs vibrating.

It could be a lot of things. Your electric or gas meters, etc. . . . . Or a transformer.

Investigate.

I've had it for years. My best suggestion is to try to ignore the noise. It doesn't go away.
