Can someone please explain to me why Calvin is pissing on things?

I love Calvin and Hobbes, my daughter has a few books that have collections of the comic strips in them and i really enjoy them. Is calvin pissing authorized by Bill Watterson? I hate those stickers.

I've read as much as I can find on Bill Watterson, and he fought tooth and nail not to even have plush toys made of Hobbes.
