Been clear for over a year now. Chemo is HORRIBLE.

It didn't feel like I'd peed myself; it felt like I was all of a sudden aroused for no reason.

Chemo sucks and so does radiation. I had squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue; what did you have?

But I had to drink a radioactive isotope once so they could see if I 'leaked'. Had a camera shoved down my gullet another time.

You know, there just isn't much that happens to you in a hospital that DOESN"T really suck wind.

I suppose if my brain didn't light up like a Christmas tree before the injection, then they'd really want it at that point.

When people tell me upon my return to work that "Why you're glowing!", I'll have a valid reason for once. :D

7. I cover my eyes with one of those airline masks so I won't--

peek and then play "head" games. For example,cities,(alphabetically),or rivers,or singers,etc..

I put a warm cloth over my eyes and just relaxed and listened to the book.

18. The MRI--a great place to discover that you're claustrophobic!

No shit--I never knew until then. It's not easy to stay perfectly still while you're freaking out, and if you don't stay perfectly still it will mess the test up and they'll start from the beginning again, thus doubling your time inside. :scared:

The next time I had one, I made sure I got some valium from my doctor beforehand.

20. Ask for antianxiety, many will give it to you

Or, meditate, if you can tune out the noise. It also might help to talk to the tech and the operator, to get a peek inside the control room, and get an idea of what working the scanner is like. Dunno why, but that was a big one for me, to see familiar looking hardware in the control room. I guess it made it easier to think of the MRI as just being a big printer :-)

Also... don't have coffee first and forget to pee :-)

22. About an hour

I was only into my chest, they were scanning my knee. I had a CT scan about 6 months later. It was about a 20 mins, but I was at all these different angles because of the pictures they needed of my knee.

23. I was SO stoned I have no idea how long I was in there.

they had given me Atavan before hand for anxiety--I had warned them I am seriously claustrophobic. Unfortunately, the Atavan was not enough to keep me calm and I freaked out. They had to call in a Doc to give me an IV drip of Valium.

I was quite stoned and still felt freaked out--but I was at least able to cope.

I DO remember them making me ride in a wheel chair after it was over and I kept on telling them, "Hell, I've been WAY drunker than this! I don't NEED this chair!" I was laughing like a hyena the entire time they were wheeling me out...

The brain scan was negative for a tumor.
