2. OK, I've heard of all of them except "hairy eyeball".
Can someone please enlighten this tragically non-hip suburban dad?

i.e. a dirty (or, on edit, susupicious) look

Not positive, though.

5. hairy eyeball is a skeptical eye to something
You give someone or something the hairy eyeball if you have doubts about it. Example: "My pet parrot gave his new bell the hairy eyeball at first, but now he's playing with it just fine."

It is not particularly hip. It is commonly used among nerds, at least in these parts.

6. Aha, thanks!
Don't know how I've avoided it to this point. I'm in the upper Midwest, maybe that's a factor?

4. how can "hairy eyeball" be a new entry?
We've been using that one since at least the early 1980s if not earlier.

7. Because they only just now decided to put it in the dictionary?
I guess we coulda looked it up, seeing as how it's in the dictionary now. :)
