you keep taking one piece of my post, and then only responding to that while circumventing the main thrust of my argument. so i'll lay it out once more in as concise a fashion as I can manage: this thread is making fun of people who have a condition which they cannot control (mental illness); and you're saying that it's fine since it's done in good humor (and since the poster knows someone who has this condition). following this line of reasoning, it is perfectly ok to post fat jokes, gay jokes, or racist jokes as long as you know someone who fits that criteria, as those are all also conditions that someone can't control, and as long as you're doing it with a good intent; it's all good :shrug:

But it's clear to me that some folks would rather make excuses and justifications instead of just owning up to them. --- At least I had the common decency to request that my "MS-Clippy" cartoon be pulled when I realized that not only was it making fun of Microsoft... but of people who had (or were contemplating) suicide. It didn't dawn on me until after the fast that two DUers had recently lost family members to suicide, so I issued apologies and requested that it be removed.
