I'm SICK Of Neatly Wrapping Gifts... Tape, Scissors, Bows, Tags...

... is it okay to just plop the present in a decorative gift bag and cram some tissue in the top? Does that mean I'm lazy? Does it mean I don't care? Does it deny the recipient the tactile delight of unwrapping the present and discovering the surprise?

1. It's better to ask for the bag back so you can re-use it next year

For immediate family, that's what we do. :bounce: We've gotten so lazy, that we re-use the name tags also. I hate wrapping presents.

I'm all thumbs when it comes to wrapping. With bags, the gift will look more presentable.

I enjoy wrapping presents, but I know that not everyone does. If I could, I'd wrap the presents for you. No one should feel forced into doing "festive" things that are nothing more than glorified chores.

likes it's not enough to have to do all the shopping and the cooking never mind the cleaning and then having to wrap presents on top of it.

I include a little bag-tag (not to be confused with a bagatelle, something else entirely) that says:
"Return of this bag to the gift donor will ensure that it is recycled.
THIS VERY BAG HAS BEEN RECYCLED 17 TIMES.

OK, the tag doesn't "say" that. It's written on it.

People expect so little of me when it comes to wrapping presents. As a straight male, I could put a present in a Stop-n-Shop bag and folks would be pretty happy with that. Since I've got *a little* bit of wrapping talent, I get by okay.

Go for the gift bag.

shopping. Join me in putting it off until the last minute, Allen. It's a great and stressfree feeling...for now. ;)

14. I HATE wrapping gifts. It makes me physically ill.

I love buying gifts and giving them. But wrapping? Worse than water torture. I had to do most of the Xmas wrapping last year. I'd have to stop every 5 minutes because I felt like I wanted to put my fist through the wall! My muscles just tense up. Hate the tape. Hate trying to make sharp corners. No matter what I do, a box ends up looking like a bundle of socks.

It's horrible.
