Lemony Snicket was a very enjoyable movie...

Just got back from seeing it. Thought it was rather well done, and entertaining. A few complaints here and there, but the scene detail and the atmosphere was pretty great. Decent cast... would have done a few things differently, but not a bad way to spend a few bucks.

3. Actually... they did it quite well....

They never show anything graphic at all. There is a scary moment with a snake, but that's really about it. There's allusions to death, and certainly, since the children are orphans, death is a big party of the story, but I think that it is not macabre in a way that would frighten children. There were many in the audience, and they seemed to enjoy the movie.

I haven't read the books but any faithful adaptation of a novel is worth a viewing in my book.

7. Yes ... kept a lot of the unique elements of the books...

and added a few to give the ending some resolution, since with the books, there are several more in the series. All in all, though, kept to the three stories rather well.

11. Need an opinion....

I'm buying my 10 year old daughter the Lemony Snicket Cumbersome Collection (all 11 books) for Christmas. Will it spoil the books for her if I take her to see the movie before she reads them?

17. I don't think so...

the movie can only touch briefly upon the plot points of the book. And it adds some elements that the books do not have. However, I will say that the orphans are shuttled from home to home because of a series of "unfortunate events," and the movie does show what those unfortunate events are. The ending of the movie does not mirror the books, though, as this is quite a large series by this point, so I think it would be ok :)

14. "Lemony Snicket" star Billy Connelly was on "The Daily Show" Wednesday.

He was wickedly funny. In fact, he may have been the funniest guest I have seen on Jon Stewart's program. Stewart was cracked up. I laughed so hard I cried. Billy Connelly is a funny, funny man.
