Yeah! I'm out of the hospital

Five days after undergoing triple by-pass, I've been released from the hospital. I still weak as hell...I get winded THINKING about anything streneous....but I get to eat real food and wear cloths that actually close in the back.

There are going to be some real lifestyle changes ahead. I have to give up my beloved pipe and prince albert tabacco and I'll probably have to forgoe the occassional guilty pleasure of a Quarter-pounder with cheese but by and large, it's better than the alternative. My old friend Nasty George who died of heart disease just a year ago used to say that a heart attack is nature
s way of saying SLOW DOWN but death is nature's way of saying STOP! COMPLETELY! I think I had better observe this "slow down" warning.

Thanks to all the DUers who relayed messages of good will and support during this really rough time in my life. Not spending time with DUers is almost as bad as not spending time with the family.

9. my dad had a quadruple bypass on election day.

he went for a followup check-up last week and they said he would be shovelling snow again by January. He is doing fine. His freeper ass was yellin at me for my anti-Bush t-shirt at the top of his lungs 2 days after his operation.

32. My grandpa underwent a SEPTUPLE-BYPASS in 1991.

He was 68 at the time.

He lived to the age of 81.
