One disadvantage with apartment living |
|
Sometimes smells from other apartments come into yours through the ventilation or heating systems. For example, once every couple weeks or so my bedroom will pick up smells from some other apartment where someone has apparently shitted out a small animal and left it there to rot without flushing. It isn't so pleasant.
I know you will all thank me now for bringing up such a pleasant subject. :D

1. As a vegetarian I agree. |
|
When I leave my apartment and walk down the hall I gag all the way out to my car. I have actually puked.

I had annoying experience eating meat today after my roommate insisted we go to a place that he assured me had plenty of non-meat items on the menu. We get there and it's basically a sit-down hamburger joint. I'm not totally vegetarian, but I'm trying to eat veggie most of the time so I was kind of pissed. It wasn't on purpose, he's just terrible at picking out places. Oh well.

2. I can't say I've ever smelled that from another apartment! |
|
But maybe I've smelled the place up too. Yesterday I stepped on a tube of "Bengay" while wearing socks in my bathroom. I didn't realize it till I had taken a few steps and realize it sprayed out over the floor and the shower curtain, etc. Apparently I tracked it around with my socks because I can smell it everywhere. The guy who lives upstairs (its a house with 2 separate apartments) asked me about it... couldn't believe the smell travelled upstairs!

6. I once lived in an apartment |
|
Where my bedroom was right next to the neighbor's bathroom. Every morning I awoke to the sound of my neighbor coughing up his smoker's lungs and spitting into his toilet, just prior to having his morning constitutional. Which I could smell. The flushing of the toilet was the coup de grace.
Needless to say, I got out of there as fast as I could.

9. No, it was very reasonable |
|
And I loved the place otherwise. It was in an old Victorian house and there was a massive marble fireplace in my (very large) bedroom and another in the living room. It had high ceilings and big tall old fashioned sash windows and was nearly impossible to heat but it was beautiful. Except.....

7. You've got ventilation systems in yours? |
|
I've never had to worry about smell.
Loud noises from human animals, yes, but never 'exotic' smells.

11. In the last apartment I lived in |
|
my neighbours loved this really STINKY fish...and used to cook it about twice a week. It was incredibly nauseating...it filled the whole floor. The smell wafted into our apartment. They also had another spice they cooked with that smelled wretched...nice people, but their cooking stank.
On a pleasant note...someone who uses the 7th floor laundry room in our present apartment folds up our laundry! .:loveya:
Never met her or him, but when they take our laundry out of the dryer to use it they fold it up perfectly. Sure makes a wonderful change from all the idiots who used to throw our stuff on the floor
