I, Robot---Worst movie ever!!!!

Isaac Asimov is probably spinning in his grave.. I love sci-fi but it was just painful to watch.. They gutted the story..

1. good thing I waited till it was out on DVD rental.

I almost never go to the theater anymore, with the high prices of tickets, almost $10 for matinae shows!

And average of $4 to rent it, why bother.

6. Looks like a precondition. I, too, read much Asimov but not "I, Robot."

By itself, it's a pretty good sci-fi movie. I've seen much much worse.

You know what could have done wonders to this movie? A different title. While acknowledging being based in the book.

Oh, and less Will Smith naked butt. And lose that lame tennis shoe advertising.

4. I was warned (by Ebert...his review) that to forget about......

...the novel and just see the film as a new story and new characters.
so...I appreciated it more..

8. I read the books years ago, set my recollections aside and enjoyed

the movie quite a bit.

The short stories as they were written are pretty much unfilmable...slow, cerebral, plodding, with little character development (except for Calvin and a very few others), basically police procedurals with robots as the suspects.

I'd like to see a faithful rendering of the R. Daneel Olivaw stories, though. There was some action in those.

if you are expecting hollywood to be faithful to novels, where have you been the last 50 years?
If you look at it by itself, as a movie, and not as an adaption of the original, there is really nothing wrong with it, and its fun.

I"m as big a sci fi fan as they come, but I can look at things objectively.

9. saw part of it on a plane with no sound

but I'm still pretty sure "The Basket" is the worst movie I have even seen, that or "The Kid" with Bruce Willis (both while captive on planes).

Even the synopsis is pointless and confused. The title refers to basketball btw.

10. I saw it on the way to Honolulu last month

Wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen, but I sure am glad I didn't race out to see it in a theater, or even pay to rent it on DVD or pay-per-view. It was just meh.
