Checks in the mail, WTF is this design?

Well, the three whiteys are still there. So is that flag. But one guy has one heck of a woody, much more significantly, and WHAT THE HELL is that Cross doing in the background? As a Christian (or, rather, one who believes in Christ's philosophies), I am outraged by the vain, grandiose, and excessively hubris use of a Christian symbol.

BTW: These same people, 4 years ago, rejected my custom phrase reading "Hatred is not a family value", saying it was not appropriate. x( They gave me the $2.50 refund and a $8 gift certificate, but I'd burnt it up back then in disgust.

1. I'm sorry, but I don't really

see anything wrong with this design. That was a very powerful moment of 9/11, and I see nothing wrong with someone wanting it on their checks. I'm a Christian, also, and I don't see anything wrong with the cross there, either.

its aftermath.

The cross reeks of "holy war", nothing more. (now that's pithy.)

Though I do not object to the 9/11 exploitation in general because, let's face it, I'm an American and it would be wrong for me to openly object anybody exploiting 9/11 for profit. </heavy sarcasm>

never be exploited for profit, political gain, the pushing of ideological agenda and ambitions, etc. But I still don't see that as the case here. Someone wants a commemorative picture of a powerful 9/11 moment on their checks, I don't see any problem with that.

It's not readily obvious, but that sure as hell was not in the real photograph. WTC wreckage was.

The picture does not promote unity or other American values. Only hubris (anyone else notice how firefire and police budgets have been crashing and burning the last 3 years???!) and sheer sectarianism.

7. The 'cross' is just the graphic element and the bank number juxtaposed...

...the cable, beam or whatever it is on the right side of the photo meets with the printing on the check.

No big deal or agenda here that I can see - beyond the exploitation of 9/11, that is.

It's merely your fevered imagination willing one to be there. I don't particularly like the use of 9/11 for profit (which this is since one has to purchase the checks) but that's another issue.
