STOCKHOLM, Sweden - Sweden's state-owned pharmacy is planning an assault on the world kissing record, in a bid to highlight the benefits of good dental hygiene.
Apoteket is seeking volunteers for the attempt as part of its planned national campaign to promote better preventative dental care in the country of 9 million.
The current record was set Dec. 5, 2001, by Louisa Almedovar and Rich Langley in New York. According to the Guiness Book of World Records, the duo kissed continuously for 30 hours, 59 minutes and 27 seconds.
"The record attempt is a way to focus on the importance of looking after your teeth. After all, kissing is a situation where mouth hygiene is important," Anders Carlsten, director of research for the national chain, said Monday.
