Anyone else here think Errol Flynn was the COOLEST actor in his day?

I have been a fan of his since I was 16!!! I love SO many of his films. If anyone has ever seen any candids of him, he always looked like a million bucks! Flynn was accused of rape in the forties (which many thought would ruin his career) & even sued a tabloid magazine shortly before he died. FLynn, IMO, was one of the best!

Bogart. The man was as cold as ice and really brought an intensity to his acting that is second to none.

The younger Flynn could probably seduce anything! Bogart was an okay actor but I wouldn't want to have an affair with him. Yuck! Apologies to Lauren Bacall.

4. David Niven had some telling memories of Flynn...

While he apparently held Flynn in some affection, he was not blind to his faults.

If you can find a copy of Niven's memoirs, BRING ON THE EMPTY HORSES, do get it. It is an engaging read from a decent and funny man.

Niven, by the way, like, Jimmy Stewart, put his acting career on hold and enlisted when World War II broke out.

8. Flynn was no Nazi!

I have kept an open mind about that & have come to the conclussion that it was a blodface lie. Didn't Charles Highman, the man who made the claim, later back down & said it was exagerated? I'm pretty sure he did.

11. I am no expert on the issue

but I have read in numerous sources that Flynn spied for the Nazis. Wether it is truthful, I do not know. It very well could be that he was being slandered. I have just read it in so many different places that I assumed it was true.

10. But a gorgeous one! When one looks and talks like that a lot can be

overlooked. I don't think he was a Nazi spy anyway. I think he would have been too lazy and that would have taken some convictions( not good ones of course!) and he would have had to put himself at risk, neither of which seem consistant with his personality! Besides, he had that teeney drinking problem and "loose lips sink ships" not exactly a great credential for a spy. And he could be a braggart.I doubt he could keep his mouth shut. He certainly let the cat out of the bag about Eva Peron!

according to accounts I have read, the man got more ass than a toilet seat.

9. Well, he certainly chased the ladies as well. His kids contest many of

those stories as well. So did his ex wives and girlfriends, but they could be biased. But it would seem he tried a bit too hard if the girls were beards!LOL!

14. the first time I saw "Robin Hood", I almost melted in my tracks

I was about 10, I think.

Of course , he had remarkable chemistry w/Olivia deHavilland too, that didn't hurt a thing.
