1. Excellent ad,

I love it, hits Ford right where it hurts. It is sickening to know they could make an SUV right now with a higher MPG, but they only care about making money.

3. Phonies

To Hell with those self-righteous Sierra Club sons of bitches. Ford puts lots of Americans to work and at good wages too. How many people does the Sierra Club put bread on the table for? I'm glad Ford is making these behemoth vehicles, that's putting people to work.

Then there's the Japanese car thing in the ad, we all know that a certain class of smarmy elitests despises American cars as uncool. So what is the Sierra Club saying, that we should buy Japanese and put fellow American workers (most of whom are Democrats) out on the street? What a bunch of bullshit.

You know, you gotta be pretty well off when this kind of thing, this car mileage thing, is a big problem to you. Such people should have some real problems, they should lose their jobs, let's see then if they give a good Goddam about Ford SUV mileage.

4. I am dirt poor

and I care about such things. No matter how little my husband and I have, we will always care about our environment. Oh, and it isn't good karma to wish people to lose their jobs.

5. Did you even read it?

"Do better -- use existing technologies to make cleaner cars that go farther on a gallon of gas, save your customers money and time at the pump, clean up the environment, and cut our nation's dependance on foreign oil."

Wanting to reduce our dependance on countries like Iraq and Saudi Arabia? Wanting American companies to make a product as good as our foreign competitors? Wanting American workers to make a good product, and thus stay employed? Despicable!

6. Serious flaw in my arguement

I just realized a flaw in my view, a flaw from the standpoint of my own economic self-interest no less. Wonder who can figure what it is? :-)

By the way Argumentus, I'm no troll but a serious lifelong Democrat of the Old School----the money before everything, always the money. But in practical terms I've probably done more towards keeping a clean environment than anyone around here.

7. I am concerned about GAS MILEAGE because it costs me

more money when a car is not as fuel efficient. I would rather spend that money on my family or put it in the bank.

So it does matter and it matters to a lot of people and Ford is foolish because it has stuck its head into the ground ignoring this fact.

And for your information I own a Ford... a tiny Escort which gets 28 miles to the gallon... but that still isn't much of an improvement in 100 years..
