What is the best and worst holiday dish that your family serves?

We have this side dish called Pineapple Salad that is a jello mold that contains celery, carrots, and canned pineapple. It's like a chutney, I guess, but it is DISGUSTING! My grandmother's family ate it in Tennessee, and growing up we called it 'depression salad' because we thought it may have replaced vegetables when they couldn't afford them.

The best dish is my mothers Banana Cream Pie. Fresh bananas, homemade pudding and whipped cream! :9

and anything by my mom is bad, :D kidding, but it used to be that way for a while, grandma still kicks ass but mom is almost a quarter of good as she was, up from a 100th at the beginning of last decade ;).

2. Oooh. It's hard to pick a best.

Among the best are my mom's homemade meatballs, the lefse, and the twice-baked potatoes.

Worst? Er...I don't think there is a worst. I love it all. And if my dad makes rommegrot, so much the better.

5. Lefse is a very thin potato flatbread.

It's made from a mashed potato and flour dough, rolled very thin, and baked on a very hot griddle. We serve it spread with butter, sprinkled with sugar, and rolled up.

Rommegrot is a rich cream-based pudding served with butter and brown sugar. It's so rich that a really small serving will do.

Yaarrrrgh! Just the thought of it nauseates me. There should be a law that soup is for eating, not cooking with.

But her lutefish and lesfe and meatballs are excellent. I'm looking forward to that part.
