I saw a PBS Special on "Manhattan Transfer" a couple of years ago...but wasn't in the "mood" for them then.
Try to find it...Oldie DU'ers...it will remind you of your older cousins who used to listen to that "early Fifties Stuff" and sort of fits for me in my "Election Depression Mode" of today. Smooth and not confrontational in time.
Just do a Google on "Manhatten Transfer" to hear their sound...it's not for everyone...but this oldie Christmas CD has done the trick for me this year... "Let it Snow" is incredible...for "smooth jazz" and "Pop" for those of you who can't deal with Christian Religion and Current Pop...because you are too freaked out with anything "current."
There's a little jazz, strings in the Platters, etc. tradition before R&R, and more sound of the "4 Aces" and "4 Ladd's" sound with a little Henry Mancini thrown in which is the "transition."
Love IT!!!!!
