1. Actually,

Merry and Pippin are straight, Sam Gamgee is gay.

Saruman is actually the Bush ancestor.

Gollum is gay also, and enjoyed getting the finger.

I read a freeper article that was denouncing LOTR/ROTK because of the supposed "gayness" of the hobbits and inferring that Merry & Pippin's enjoying the pipeweed was a reference to marijuana.
