Middle of the night:
wake up, notice my alarm clocks (I get up at 4:30, so keep two - one bedside, one across the room to drag my ass awake) are dead. Power outage. Grab the stand-by wind-up alarm clock and head to the dark living room to get the proper time (2:30 am) and set it. Head back to bed. Stumble on the way, drop the clock, breaking it.
Sometime later: drift back to sleep. Power comes back on at 5, conveniently waking me up with enough time if I shower immediately at get moving.
5:35: discover the rain that turned to snow overnight has left my car door locks frozen. Try heating the key with cigarette lighter. No help.
5:45 Doh! Realize I can maybe get in if I strip off the plastic sheeting from a rear corner window, where the car was broken into over a year ago but I was too lazy to get fixed, and get the back door open. Door won't budge.
5:50: Try again. Eureka! Car is started. Now, I have to get back out and brush snow & ice off windshield & back window. Front doors still won't unlock, so I have to crawl over the backseat again to get out and back in. Brush. Getting back in, I bump my head on the dome light, and am unable to figure out how to get it to switch back off.
6:00: finally, am on the road. Slick, icy road. Driving up a hill, I notice a slipped-out car who thinks it's a good idea to back into the road perpendicular-style, to straight himself and get going again.
I scream, but manage to avoid him.
6:20: I silently wish the 18-wheeler that's less than 10 feet off of my bumper a safe trip and that his loved ones get to see Santa walk through the door. Semi-sincerely, even.
6:35: get to work over 1/2 hour late.
Hooray for Yoga.
