2. Why the hell do that when there is already an overpopulation problem...

There are a lot of cats, NOW that need a good home, otherwise many will be destroyed, so this is a bad idea, no matter how one looks at it. Not to mention the less than perfect method of cloning which can lead to medical problems in these newly born defenseless kittens.

19. well this is SO true. Still if I could have my Boy "back'..... He was

my child and I think I loved and still love him as much as if I had a child. I wouldn't tell a parent whose child died to go adopt some baby since there are kids who need adoption, and I feel the same about my cats. I have taken in stray cats for 40 years and every stray deserves a warm loving home.

13. There are dozens of homeless cats in my neighborhood. They're cute, too.

They are also freezing, hungry, and sentenced to a very short and hard life.

If you are in mourning, put a memorial of your cat together, then adopt a new cat. If you have 50k to blow, and you are driven to blow it on cats, donate that money to a no-kill shelter like the one FlamingYouth has linked on her sig line. It's the only ethical thing to do.

The new cat will be a completely different individual as far as his mind is concerned. And given a certain feline genetic peculiarity, a cat clone will not necessarily resemble the original physically, even.

Basically, you're just spending $50,000 to acquire a new and different cat, albeit one who shares the dear departed's genetic material.

Although I can totally understand wanting to pay any price to resurrect a beloved animal friend.

But really, there are so many sweet homeless animals that need moms and dads, that'd be selfish.
